Virtuosic Japanese pianist Hiromi is set to release her latest album, Move, on March 5, 2013 with her trio consisting of Anthony Jackson (Paul Simon, The O’Jays, Steely Dan, Chick Corea) on bass and Simon Phillips (Toto, The Who, Judas Priest, David Gilmour, Jack Bruce) on drums. This will be their second trio album, the first being 2011′s Voice.
Jackson and Phillip’s relationship goes back over 30 years and it shows in their ability to communicate with the music. Adding Hiromi into the mix switches up the vibe in new and exciting ways. In putting together this trio, Hiromi cemented it with both experience and chemistry. “There’s so much more to their playing. As a composer, I really wanted to write the songs especially for them, and I wanted to extract the unique beauty of their playing,” she explains.
