We’re about to welcome in 2013 and subsequently there is a lot to be excited about. Concerts, albums, artists, artwork, and more are coming in the new year. Check out just a few of the things you should be excited about in the first few months of 2013!
Winter Jazz Festival (1/11 & 1/12):
That’s right, for the first time ever Revive Music Group will be presenting two full nights of music at Winter Jazz Festival including artists like Marcus Strickland, The Revive Big Band, Mark de Clive-Lowe’s CHURCH, Otis Brown III and many more. Check out the full schedule here.
Joe Lovano’s Cross Culture (1/8)
Featuring Lovano’s core group of Esperanza Spalding, Peter Slavov, James Weidman, Otis Brown III and Francisco Mela, plus a guest appearance by Lionel Loueke, Cross Culture brings together the idea of music as a universal language. There is a lot to explore in this one.
José James to Release No Beginning No End (1/22)
The much anticipated release of José James’ No Beginning No End which features an incredible array of musicians and vocalists is sure to bring with it a tour and more great moments. The record is stunningly beautiful and enticingly unique.
Kendrick Scott Oracle Releases Conviction (1/29)
John Ellis, Mike Moreno, Taylor Eigsti, Joe Sanders, and Alan Hampton. This record is a who’s who of young and innovative musicians who are pioneering our generation of jazz.
Wayne Shorter’s Without A Net (2/5)
This will be Shorter’s first record with Blue Note in 43 years. Epic? We think so.
Mark de Clive-Lowe + The Rotterdam Jazz Orchestra (2/5)
Is there anything MdCL can’t do? This time he teamed up with the Rotterdam Jazz Orchestra for a performance this year. The recording will be available as a live album in February and it packs a punch like you’ve never heard before in any conventional big band.
NEXT Collective’s Cover Art (2/26)
Logan Richardson, Walter Smith III, Matthew Stevens, Gerald Clayton, Kris Bowers, Ben Williams, Jamire Williams, and Christian Scott covering NERD, Little Dragon, Jay-Z & Kanye, Dido, D’Angelo, and more? No more information needed.
Also look out for more great shows at Smalls, DROM, Zinc Bar, Le Poisson Rouge, Sullivan Hall, Blue Note NYC, and more!
Happy New Year and we hope to see you all in the Revive community in 2013!
